Wilsonkaki proudly presents Collection 006 "Teeth of The Sea", a captivating exploration of coastal life through fashion. This collection delves into the complex relationship between humanity and the vast oceans, offering a unique interpretation of an alternative utopia tinged with mystery and suspense. "Teeth of The Sea" artfully captures the ocean's multifaceted character - a source of both joy and danger, beauty and isolation. Wilsonkaki invites wearers to embrace life's unpredictability, much like the ever-changing moods of the sea.
Fragments of Curiosities, on view from September 29 to November 2, 2024 at HART Haus 3/F, is a group exhibition featuring works by Louisze Chan Pui Sze, S. Yi Yao Chao + Koel Chu, Colbie Fung Ho Pui, Sharon Lee, Natasza Minasiewicz, and Daniel Stempfer, curated by Helena Halim. The exhibition explores how objects are vessels for our memories, a material vestige of our past. The artists in the exhibition draw upon the objects they collect and salvage, to examine how they speak to personal and collective stories, unveiling pieces of our shared experiences.
This event is a part of the final project presentation of Curatorship Incubation Programme organized by HART.
群展「碎片拾憶」將於 2024 年 9 月 29 日至 11 月 2 日在 HART Haus 三樓呈現，展出藝術家陳佩詩、周亦瑤+朱嘉喬、馮可貝、李卓媛、Natasza Minasiewicz 及 Daniel Stempfer 的作品，由林心儀策展。展覽探討物件如何成為滿載回憶的容器，又如何保存歷史的痕跡。六組參展藝術家透過他們收集和改造的物件，訴說物件背後的個體或集體故事，揭開我們共同經歷的過往。

Gaylord Chan and his fellow students founded the Artmatch Group in 1995 which offers a platform for members' creative energy to thrive and excel. The group has 21 members, comprising local and overseas artists from diverse backgrounds. The group has been organizing exhibitions almost every year since its establishment. The exhibition lasts from September 19, 2024 to November 2, 2024.

HART Haus is excited to announce our collaboration with the Art Future Awards to welcome Erina Yoshimura from Kyoto City University of Arts as our artist in residence from August 28 to September 27, 2024!
As the winner of the inaugural Art Future Awards in Hong Kong, Yoshimura approaches her work by exploring the connections between her body, her surroundings, and the people and objects around her. Through these personal interactions, she seeks to discover new artistic expressions.
During her time at HART Haus, Yoshimura will further explore her practice and conclude with a performance and artist talk. It is a great chance to connect with fellow art lovers and dive into her creative world!

In collaboration with Prague Art Week, HART is delighted to announce that Artist Melody Qingmei Li will be participating in the International Artist Residency Exchange.
Following the Czech artist’s residency at HART Haus this March, Melody Qingmei Li will be participating in the artist residency at Gabriel Loci studio and presenting her solo exhibition “Rivers of remembering, to the forgotten land” in the Czech Republic.

Wu Jiaru’'s latest project “A Brief Digression" is exhibited in an industrial space, exploring the encounters of objects in movement through a series of installations. It reconsiders the potential social significance of the act of "mobility" itself. Beyond the value of a carefully wrapped object as a commodity, can its journey create new social value? "Package" often encapsulates intimate stories that drift from one end of the ocean to an unknown destination, with no promise of arrival. These objects act as primal carriers of information and hope, reaching unattainable places and intertwining political and personal narratives. Through a series of improvisational approaches, the artist creates site-specific works about the mobility and protection of social objects. The audience, viewing from the god's perspective, can engage with the object's narrative and create new stories for it.
吳佳儒最新項目「 不達」於工業空間展出，透過一系列的裝置探索物件在流動中的遭遇，重新思考物件「流動」這一行動本身可能存在的社會意義，一件悉心包裹的物件，除了其作為商品的價值，它的流動過程是否可以產生新的社會價值？「包裹」往往裝載著種種私密的故事，從海洋的一端漂流到未知的另一端，卻無法承諾抵達；它們被作為信息與希望的原始載體，抵達不可抵達之處，交織著政治與私人的敘事。藝術家透過一系列即興創作的方式為觀眾打造一個關於社會物件的裝載和流動的場域特定作品，觀眾可以從上帝視角進入該物件的敘事並嘗試為它創造新的故事。
Organised by curatorial collective Humble Researchers, Nature: A Perception exhibition will take place from 8th June, 2024 until 14th July, 2024 at HART Haus. Showcasing works by 12 artists including Dony Cheng, Dorothy Cheung, Cheung Tsz Hin, Andrew Kan (AK), Jess Lau, Lin Wing Yan, Ling Pui Sze, Ng Hong Kei, Sharu Sikdar, So Wing Po, Ice Wong and Zheng Bo, the exhibition explores the manifold interpretation of nature, moving beyond conventional reading, and to that speaks to our present time and place
The opening reception will feature a durational performance Follow the flow and flow into the follow-on (2024) by Ice Wong Kei Suet, where the artist will experience time, metabolism and environment through a mundane activity.

In a series of four workshops, artist AK will lead us on an auditory-enlightening journey, delving into the mystical worlds of sound along the curated hiking routes in Hong Kong. With an introduction to the principles of field recording, sound theories, and editing techniques, you will be guided to create a unique work of sound. Your work will have a chance to debut in ‘Nature: A perception’ exhibition, opening in HART Haus in June.

HART announces an International Artist Exchange with Lenka Bakes, in collaboration with Prague Art Week. Bakes will present an Open Studio during her residency at HART Haus, showcasing work inspired by her research in Hong Kong. Exploring the connection between self and human history, Bakes combines spiritual archeology, myth, and the city's memory to reflect on our reality. She uses photographs, literary snippets, artifacts, and natural objects to dissect and reconstruct this intertwined reality.
HART與布拉格藝術週合作，宣布與Lenka Bakes進行國際藝術家交流。Bakes將在HART Haus的駐留期間舉辦開放工作室，展示她在香港的研究啟發的作品。通過探索自我與人類歷史之間的聯繫，Bakes結合了精神考古學、神話和城市記憶來反思我們的現實。她使用攝影、隨筆、文物和自然物件來剖析和重構這種交織的現實。
PLM’s primary goal is to explore different dimensions of communication and inquire into how understandings are reached. We use art as a communicative tool in order to foster a sense of commonality and intimacy despite diversity, and, in doing so, to overcome language barriers, particularly those between the Hearing and Deaf worlds, while raising awareness about Hong Kong Sign Language, Deaf culture, and linguistic identities. We work with a range of art media, e.g., performance, installation, painting, drawing, and video.

“Poetics of Preservation”, a HART collaboration project led by artists The Buoy, will open its presentation showcase on 25 Nov 2023 (Sat). Join us for the opening reception to celebrate the collaboration experimental works by 14 participants during a year-long socially-engaged art project. Working closely with Hong Kong-based videographer Moving Image Studio, The Buoy will reveal a participatory installation and experimental film inspired by the American television show, “Antiques Roadshow.” Together, the project reveals a unique approach to artistic storytelling normally unseen in Hong Kong!
HART合作項目 — 由藝術家 The Buoy 主導的「保藏的詩意」將於 2023 年 11 月 25 日（星期六）開幕！實驗作品將展示 14 名參加者在為期一年的社會參與藝術項目中的交流。我們特意與香港攝影團隊 Moving Image Studio 合作，製作由美國電視節目「古董路演」啟發的實驗電影及展出共同創作的裝置作品，當中揭示香港罕見的獨特的藝術敘事方式！
Co-presented by WMA and HART, the ‘Book Lab’ is a new initiative focused on artists’ books. Spotlighting design thinking, materiality, printing and reading experiences, 'Book Lab' intends to stretch established sequencing-driven models for generating books, to the process of conceptualisation and format design. ‘Book Lab’ includes two full-day seminars and a five-day book making workshop. A group of local and international designers, publishers, and book makers will demonstrate how books transform from paper that simply carries knowledge to a collection of artists’ thoughts and actions. A book can be used as a contemporary creative medium not only for reading but also for looking at, touching, and even experiencing.
由WMA 與 HART 聯合籌劃的「書籍實驗所」是一個以藝術家書籍為核心的全新計劃。計劃以設計思維、物料材質、印刷製作以及閱讀經驗為主導，突破傳統以敍事結構來編制書籍的模式。整個計劃包括兩場專題討論會，以及一個為期五日的書籍製作工作坊。一眾本地與海外的設計師、出版社、書籍製作者將透過他們的分享，展示書籍如何由單純承載知識的紙本，轉化成一種結合藝術家的想法和行為，可以不單被閱讀，而是被凝視、觸碰、甚至經驗的一種當代創作媒介。

“Resonant Landscapes” is a group exhibition showcasing the latest works by recipients of HART Award this year, Tjia Man Yan from Department of Fine Arts at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Au Kin Wai Johnny, and Wai Mei Ting from The Academy of Visual Arts at Hong Kong Baptist University. Started in 2020, HART Award aims to support remarkable undergraduates through HART’s provision of studio spaces, artist community, and incubation. Highlighting emerging artists’ multidisciplinary practices, “Resonant Landscapes” promises a contemporary tapestry of profound themes, historical, universal references, and thought-provoking processes.
「共鳴景觀」是本年度HART大獎的得獎者聯展，展出香港中文大學藝術系的謝旻蒑、香港浸會大學視覺藝術學院的歐健韋和韋美婷的最新作品。HART大獎成立於於2020年，旨在通過HART提供的工作室空間、藝術家社群和培育機制，支持傑出的文學士課程畢業生。「共鳴景觀」突顯新晉藝術家們的跨學科實踐，為觀眾呈現一幅蘊含深刻主題、歷史淵源、普世價值和發人深省的當代織錦。
本科課程為初學者學習而設，內容包括講解孫過庭書譜的用筆、結體及草法，示範書寫動作及細節。每位學員需要於堂上書寫研習，導師作個別指導。課程下半部份集中分析孫過庭書譜草書用筆的細節部份，並指導學員完成仿作作品。

Through two meetings led by HART artists-in-residence The Buoy, you will take part in re-making an 'Antiques Television Broadcast'. Yet differently, our unique ways of valuing entombed objects will be shared with preservation experts in Hong Kong and the U.S.A. Finally, we can meet a third time, to explore a group artistic project, or to retire our objects. This programme is funded by a grant from the United States Department of State.

During the celebration of French May Arts Fest 2023, curated by HART artist-in-residence Merryn Trevethan, “Luminaria” is Gisèle Tchitchiama’s exhibition that frames a quest for illumination through encounters with light, fragility and the ephemeral. For Gisèle, her multiple identities - French, African, woman, wife, mother, daughter - are woven into her interrogations. Presence and absence are at the heart of her ongoing artistic conversation which takes the audience on a journey into inner and outer landscapes.
The exhibition was inspired by the colour, poetry and delicacy of an unexpected moment on a journey from France to Dover, England last summer, Gisèle captured in a blurry landscape photo. This image became the starting point for an artistic journey that incorporates many creative and meaningful collaborations.
The studio is open again! Every year HART Haus opens to the public to visit in specific periods, allowing the visitors to engage with our Social Studio artists to directly learn more about their diverse practices with the background of the picturesque studio space in Kennedy Town. Coinciding with the opening of our exhibition “Postmodern Tales”, we are glad to invite you to the studio in dedicated time slots on the art week. The artists will be present.
During the open studio we will showcase the new or rearranged works of the artists. In 2023 we are happy to have several new artists joining us, whose mediums and practices are presenting unique variance to our existing talents, and hence have instilled a new energy to the studio. We believe no matter if it is or not your first time visiting the open studio, you could enjoy exploring the new landscape in the studio.

In collaboration with Medo Art Space (Vienna), HART is delighted to be a partner of the international project BODY EMBEDDING, initiated by Hongwei Duan and Ursula Maria Probst. The project is launched as an artist-in-residence programme in cooperation with Southeast European cultural institutions and in which artists from various geopolitical regions of Asia and Europe participate, the canon of her/historiography is reformulated through a "herstory", through narrative structures derived from a situated production of experience and knowledge.
We are excited to host a performance-sharing evening on 23rd February, led by curator Ursula Maria Probst and artist Nicole Sabella, sharing with us their recent research and discoveries during their stay in Hong Kong through the end of January to February this year.

Curated by Kelly Chan, EXERCISING FREEDOM brings together a selection of works from four featured female Hong Kong artists who have reimagined a spectrum of physical activities from Olympics sports to amateur workouts. The exhibited works challenge the scope of existing physical exercises and present alternative and absurd solutions in the lens of a fitness fanatic.
This event is a part of the final project presentation of Curatorship Incubation Programme organized by HART.

We are delighted to invite you to an evening with visiting artist Sara Lanner (b. 1991, Austria), concluding her one-month residency at HART Social Studio.
As a visual artist and choreographer, Lanner uses the body to engage performance art as an architectural medium, translating different functions of spaces–used or abandoned, power dynamics within certain usage by communities, and as the centre of collective thoughts for framing diverse personalities. The performance INWEAVE demonstrates Lanner’s interim research in Hong Kong, followed by an artist-led sharing session. “Interweave” as a recurring subject in her performances, Lanner’s choreography combines histories of locality, found materials from the everyday, and her cultural experiences/clashes during the research process. Lanner therefore tries to pose a question: how can art deconstruct social conventions, while reconstructing them with care and social justice, promoting positive impacts for the future?

Ink is a unique artistic medium. Works by ink artist(s) and practitioners have always become the ways to explore the relationships between traditional and contemporary practices, and to study the complexity of the multifaceted contemporary cultural contexts. HART artitsts-in-residence Chui Pui Chee and Natalie Chu are graduates from The Chinese University of Hong Kong yet growing up from different environments. How have they learnt about Chinese art? How do they transform these concepts and expressions with along history in their creative approaches and languages?

HART is a new arts initiative to explore art and space in Hong Kong with the aim to revitalise a culture of creativity with active participation and a focus on hands-on making, via a collective of art spaces and an evolving, experimental platform of programmes and site-specific projects
