Workshop: How to Build a Multisensory Grieving Ritual 工作坊:如何建立多感官的哀思儀式

How might we care for each other on a collective level during the process of grieving? For this workshop, we will build a multisensory grieving ritual to be experienced with a group of strangers using design thinking frameworks and rapid prototyping. Participants will experience ideating, designing the choreography, setting the environment, emotional journey mapping and performing the designed ritual with a focus on stimulating our five senses. There will be space for discussion afterwards to share our thoughts and feelings after experiencing the rituals.

Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.

在哀思的過程中,我們如何在集體層面上表達互相關懷?在今次工作坊中,我們將嘗試用設計思維框架和快速模擬來建立一個多感官的哀思儀式,讓一群陌生人來體驗。 參與者將體驗構思、設計動作、設置環境、情感體驗地圖和執行設計的儀式,以刺激我們的五種感官做重點。 之後會有討論的時間,分享我們在經歷儀式後的想法和感受。

工作坊將提供小食和飲品。

About the Artists

Michele Chu

Michele Chu (b. 1994) is an interdisciplinary artist and designer who graduated from Royal College of Art & Imperial College London with a MA/MSc Global Innovation Design and Pratt Institute with a BFA Communications Design (Illustration).

She is passionate about exploring intimacy and human connection in her works, specifically the interplay between sensory elements and space to amplify emotional connection between individuals. Her works contemplate what makes us human, through mediums like multi-sensory installations and street experiments amongst others.

Her works have been published in the likes of The Huffington post, the Telegraph and shared on global platforms like TEDx. They have won awards by GDUSA, the American Heart Association, and Packaging of the World. Michele Chu is supported by soundpocket’s Artist Support Programme 2020–21.

Sudhee Liao

Sudhee Liao was born and raised in Singapore, she graduated from The Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in Contemporary Dance. Her experience as a dancer is wide ranging having worked extensively with different international choreographers. She has travelled and performed internationally in various productions and dance festivals. Her works include performances in theatres, galleries, site-specific spaces as well as video works.

As a choreographer, her more recent works includes Interconnectivity as a part of New Force in Motion Series 2020 organised by Leisure and Cultural Services Department. Going live: with enigmatic perception which was shown in Singapore Art Week 2021, Shanghai Power Station of Art and Tai Kwun Contemporary, Hong Kong. Hermetic Diode was recently presented in Hong Kong Arts Festival 2021 in the double bill programme. Handbook of Daily Movement, a collaborative piece with poet, Marc Nair was commissioned in Singapore Arts House in March 2020. Haptic Compression and Hermetic Diode, a collaborative piece with visual artist, Andrew Luk was commissioned by The Hong Kong Jockey Club was premiered at The Hong Kong Art Festival 2017 and 2018 respectively. She co-directed a dance film, Faraway My Shadow Wandered with filmmaker, Liao Jie Kai that was premiered in Singapore International Film Festival 2021, Cinéma du Réel Paris 2021 and International Film Festival Rotterdam 2021.

She is currently an independent dance artist, choreographer and dance educator.

朱凱婷

朱凱婷,1994年出生,畢業於英國皇家藝術學院和帝國理工學院雙碩士學位(全球創新設計);本科曾就讀於紐約普萊特學院傳播設計系,主修插畫。她的作品熱衷於探索人與人之間的親暱關係與交流方式,尤其是運用人的不同感官感受和不同的空間等元素去放大和展現人與人之間的情感聯繫,並且通過多感官裝置和街頭實驗等媒介,去讓人們重新思考「人,何以為人」。 

關於朱凱婷的作品的報導曾於 The Huffington Post 及 The Telegraph 等雜誌上發佈。此外,她還在TEDx等全球平台上分享了她的作品。朱凱婷為聲音掏腰包「藝術家支援計劃」2020-21 年度獲選年青藝術家。

廖月敏

廖月敏出生於新加坡。畢業香港演藝學院藝術學士學位,主修現代舞。4歲開始學習芭蕾舞,至今她對舞蹈的熱情一直沒有退減。

廖氏舞蹈經驗廣泛,曾和多位著名國際編舞家合作。曾在多個作品、舞蹈節及文化交流在國際間演出,其作品包括於劇場、畫廊、環境舞蹈及錄像。

作為編舞,她最新的作品包括《總是在這裡,但不存在》,《0》,《B612星空奇遇》 及由藝術發展局資助,與陳俊瑋共同創作的《不曾/ 忘記》。此外,她亦對電影和攝影感興趣,喜歡探索和喜愛分享動作藝術。現時為演出者丶編舞和舞蹈教師。

Workshop: Spice Sachet-Making 工作坊:香料香薰包工作坊

This workshop introduces various spices around the world. Participants get to touch and smell and learn about their origin and food cuisines that incorporate them. Participants will then have hands-on time to create their own spice sachets!

About the Artists

Sharu Binnong Sikdar

Sharu Binnong Sikdar is a Hong Kong born Indian Filipino. Sikdar’s artistic practice is repetitive and labour-intensive as she collects and reconstructs found objects. Sikdar utilizes branches, barks, leaves and her hair as main medium. This leads her to explore the relationship between nature and human beings, the ephemerality and personal growth.

Sikdar graduated with a Painting B.F.A in 2017 at the Savannah College of Art and Design, Hong Kong. Sharu Binnong Sikdar

Lin Heung House

Lin Heung House is a place for the public to get a brand-new scent-making experience with their bare hands and 5 senses. They hope to promote the appreciation of nature and cultural diversity with a mission to build a more harmonious community. Local ethnic minority groups will join together to develop new products and scent-making programs such as Masala Chai, Mosquito-repelling Incense made with cow dung, Balm and etc, bringing the participants to get closer to the nature and embrace different cultures. They also serve as a bridge between corporates and socially disadvantaged groups by offering services in executing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs.

Sharu Binnong Sikdar

生於香港,是一位印度和菲律賓藉藝術家。Sikdar 收集、組裝、解構及重組現成物,她的創作富重覆性及勞動密集性,並常運用天然物料如樹枝、樹皮並樹葉。Sikdar 目前正在探索利用自身髮絲作為創作媒介,藉以發掘身體與自然、個人成長與轉瞬的關係。

摙香樓

摙香樓是一個利用一雙手來體驗搓、揉、摙香和呷茶的地方。他們希望「摙香樓」能進一步走入社區,以香味連繫社區,鼓勵參加者透過一雙手來感受自然和抒發自我,摙出屬於自己的香味產品,讓無形化為有形,享受箇中樂趣。他們會和少數族裔朋友合作,研發和售賣具文化特色的香製品,如「繩香」和「牛糞製蚊香」;及設計獨特的製香體驗活動,如沖泡印度奶茶和製造天然蚊香蚊膏,讓大眾能走近大自然及參與文化交流。他們亦會為公司設計企業社會責任活動(CSR),讓社會上來自不同背景的人士能互相認識和支持。

Workshop: As The Ink Bleeds 工作坊:隨墨流

The workshop revolves around traditional ink painting technique yet focuses on its evolution based on every participant’s personal touches. Beyond any figurative forms of art, the workshop aims at guiding participants to be abstract and expressive, and embrace what is seemingly disruptive and to absorb, respond and react to unexpected happenings in life.

About the Artists

Doris Ng

Doris Ng -mixed media artist at Hart Haus and Tung Nam Lou Art Hotel, Hong Kong. She specialises in symbols, bold colour and geometries composition to form rich textured visuals. Art trained since age 5, her brush is an extension to her body. She traveled and lived in various cities, inherited diverse cultural influences to address personal and social issues with multiple perspectives, translated in her artwork- painting, sculpture, photography and text-based expressions.

She also works extensively in art and cultural community projects with The Lok Sin Tong Benevolent Society Hong Kong, Hong Kong Planner Institute, K11 MUSEA Nature Discovery Park, HART, Aroma Office, HandsOn Hong Kong etc.

She co-founded LIN 𢆡 LIN (social art initiative) and manages graffiti_nexus (graffiti and cultural connotation). Her exhibited work in 2021 includes 999000110112, Gate, Hang, Signage of Reflex I.

Chui Pui-chee
Chui Pui-chee apprenticed under Mr. Jat See-yeu and Professor Wang Dong-ling. After obtaining his first degree in Fine Arts at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Chui furthered his postgraduate studies at the Department of Chinese Calligraphy, China Academy of Art, where he obtained his Master of Arts and Doctoral Degrees. Chui's artworks are collected by the Hong Kong Museum of Art, Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology of University of Oxford, and are popular among private collectors.

吳玳誼
吳玳誼 -多媒體藝術家 ,現駐場 Hart Haus 和東南樓藝術酒店。藝術風格大膽用色,多層次畫面,讓觀衆自身體驗及解讀畫面上的綫索。自五歲接受藝術訓練,吳氏的筆猶如她肢體一部分。她多年居住在多個城市,深受不同文化和多角度探討個人情感和社會議題,作品結合繪畫,雕塑,影像和文字。其作品彰顯獨特風格。

吳氏從事文化項目及藝術教育,合作單位包括:九龍樂善堂,香港規劃師協會, K11 MUSEA Nature Discovery Park,HART, Aroma office,HandsOn Hong Kong 等。

2021展出作品包括 《999000110112》 , 《閘》 , 《掛》,《本能的燈箱 #1》,始2021年經營文化平台 Instagram @graffiti_nexus 街頭塗鴉與社區文化研習,始2021年聯合創辦藝術項目 LIN 𢆡 LIN 探討社會和身體禁忌議題。

徐沛之
徐沛之博士,1980年生於香港,師從翟仕堯老師及王冬齡教授。先後獲香港中文大學藝術系學士、中國美術學院書法系碩士及博士學位。徐博士的作品獲香港藝術館、英國牛津大學阿什莫林藝術與考古博物館及私人收藏。

During this experiential programme, Lemon Jai will not only lead us to amplify the artistic touches and tour around the community, but will also guide us to collect different natural materials from the community for making floral and seed recycled papers with different colours and scent. Let’s learn the fun of upcycling together!
